Our newly joined administrative coordinator, Lale, tells us about herself and her motivation behind joining the project.

As a student pursuing a Master’s degree in Digital Humanities at the University of Vienna, my academic journey has recently taken an exciting turn. I’ve had the opportunity to join the Releven project as administrative coordinator and I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself.

My name is Lale, and I joined the project as of November. Prior to pursuing my Master’s degree in Digital Humanities, I completed my Bachelor's in English and American Studies here at the University of Vienna with a focus on Corpus Linguistics. While my background isn’t specifically in history, my current studies have taught me the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and the power of digital technology to bridge gaps across disciplines.

Even though it’s only been a few weeks, being part of the Releven project has been amazing. I’ve seen firsthand how digital humanities projects operate and how theory is turned into pratice. My colleagues’ passion about the project is contagious and inspiring which makes this experience even more remarkable. As an administrative coordinator, my job is to support them in any way possible. This includes managing project data, tracking task progress to ensure the project goals are met and promote the Releven project to the wider community. More than just a job title, this role is an opportunity for me to grow and contribute to the field of Digital Humanities while putting my academic studies into practical application.

I am particularly interested in the project’s use of digital technology to make historical research more accessible and engaging. I believe that this project has the potential to democratize access to knowledge and make history more relevant to a wider audience. I’m excited to be part of the Releven team and look forward to sharing our discoveries along with the challenges we face.
